The Global Pathways program at Northeastern University offers international students the opportunity to earn an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree from a top ranked US university.
The undergraduate Pathways curriculum is a combination of college level English preparation with specialized academic coursework in your field study taught by Northeastern University faculty on campus in the heart of Boston. Upon successful completion of the Global Pathways program, you’ll be transferred into your Bachelor’s degree programs at Northeastern University, usually as a 2nd semester Freshman student.
Undergraduate Global Pathways at Northeastern University
1-3 semester term Pathways program (or 4, 8, or 12 month Pathways program)- Choose from 3 tracks in either Business & Social Sciences, Engineering Mathematics & Computer Science, or Physical & Life Sciences depending on your major
- Earn up to 12-16 academic credits that can be applied to your Bachelors degree
- Progression to 2nd semester of your Bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University for most students

Entry Requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements to qualify for this program:
NOTE: These are minimum entry requirements only. Satisfying these requirements does not guarantee admission into the Global Pathways program.
- Minimum Academic level of High School diploma or equivalent. High School student in their final semester may apply to Pathways before graduating from high school. University Transfer students must have less than 24 transferable credit hours to qualify as a transfer student through Pathways.
- Minimum Grade level (GPA) of 3.0 to 3.2 out of 4.0 scale in cumulative high school coursework from grades 9 to 12. GPA level varies depending on the major you apply to enter study.
- Minimum English score of one of the following: iBT 65 /Kaplan iBT 65/ Pearson 46/ IELTS 6.0(no bands below 5.5).
- Maximum English score limit of TOEFL iBT 92
^ Conditional Acceptance through Kaplan English school available for students who score below the minimum English level.

Exit Requirements to progress to Northeastern’s degree program:
- Successful completion of all semesters of Global Pathways is required. Early matriculation is not allowed.
- Minimum Grade level (GPA) of 3.0 to 3.4 out of 4.0 scale in cumulative Pathways coursework. GPA level varies depending on the major you apply to enter study.
- Completion of Northeastern University’s English exam, or minimum TOEFL iBT 92 (LRW 22, S 24) / IELTS 6.5 (no bands lower than 6.0).

To apply to Northeastern University through Global Pathways is simple and easy!
Please just submit the following required documents to our Northeastern University Global Pathways office:
- Global Pathways Application Form

- TOEFL® (Code 2575), IELTS, Pearson or Kaplan iBT
- Transcripts and Grades: Original transcripts from all years attended and supporting grade scale and English translation are required
- Official degree stating conferral and date. - Personal Statement: You should answer the following questions in your statement
Undergraduate applicants:
Why do you want to study at Northeastern? What is your major choice and plans for the future? What makes you stand out, do you play an instrument or sport, have you been part of a club
or volunteer group in school, do you have work experience?
Graduate applicants:
Identify motivation for applying. Specify expectation, outcomes and goals for the program. Outline professional/academic experience related to the program. - Reference Letters: Two or Three letters completed by employers and/or professors & instructors
- CV/Resume: List work/school history, travel, languages, awards, certificates, volunteer work, and accomplishments
Graduate applicants: Outlines academic and professional experiences and accomplishments - Passport Copy
- Declaration & Certification of Finances Form (Original only, must be couriered to the Global Pathways office before the applications deadline)
- Bank Statement copy: recent statement of no less than the minimum funds required in the Declarations & Certification of Finances Form (Original only, must be couriered to the Global Pathways office before the applications deadline)
