Orientation Programs

Northeastern's International Student & Scholar Institute (ISSI) helps you adjust to your life abroad beginning at the moment you land in the U.S. and continuing throughout the school year. A full range of orientation services is provided, from airport pick-up to advice on everything from opening a bank account to shopping in Boston—and, of course, anything having to do with immigration. ISSI also provides a social network for international students through parties and trips to exciting places like New York City and the beautiful New England countryside.

Student Advisors

Each Pathways student is assigned a Student Advisor—someone you can count on for answers to the many questions that life in a new school and new country can bring. Your Student Advisor can help you with everything from questions about U.S. culture to an unexpected challenge in one of your classes.

Housing

As a Pathways student, you'll have several housing options: guest house with or without meals, an apartment near campus either on your own or with other students, or a "home stay"—living with an American family in Boston. Of course, if you have family or friends in the area, you can choose to stay with them! Whichever you choose, the Pathways staff will make sure that you're safe and happy in your new home.

Immigration

The Pathways staff will help you every step of the way in your student visa application process. We'll help you complete the necessary paperwork when you first apply, and help you maintain your visa status after you arrive in the U.S.
