The Global Pathways program at Pace University offers international students the opportunity to follow an excellent pathway program leading to an graduate degree from a top world ranked university. The Graduate Global Pathways program at Pace University is designed to prepare international students for entry into a Master’s degree program. The program combines academic coursework with advanced English language training to enable international students to integrate smoothly and successfully into a Master’s program at one of Pace University’s top ranked graduate schools.

Graduate Pathways Program at Pace University

Enter Pace University on conditional admission through a 1-3 semester term Pathways program (for 4 month, 8 month, or 12 month duration) to prepare for your Master’s degree.

  • A combination of college level English preparation with Academic credit courses with mainstream graduate students.
  • Earn up to 3-9 Academic Credits that can be applied to your Master’s degree
  • Progression to Master’s degree at Pace University, including top ranked MBA, MS, MA, and MPA degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Finance, Information Systems, Investment Management, Human Resource Management, Media & Communication Arts, Public Administration, Software Engineering & Development, and more.

English Skills Course Descriptions

Grammar & Writing

This course is designed to build on translating ideas into well configured writing in various rhetorical styles. Both writing development and grammatical accuracy are addressed.

Reading & Vocabulary

This course is designed to increase reading speed, critically analyze and discuss different types of reading materials and increase reading comprehension. Various reading strategies and vocabulary retention skills are taught to help achieve these goals.

Conversation & Listening

This course is designed to improve conversational fluency and listening comprehension. This course targets overall English communication improvement including pronunciation.

Pronunciation

This course is designed to improve pronunciation for everyday speech and academic presentations. The class focuses on specific sounds, as well as intonation and stress reductions.

Vocabulary Building

This course is designed to acquire basic vocabulary and idioms for everyday conversation as well as the basic academic vocabulary required in college or academic settings. Application of common new vocabulary to speaking and writing, and learning how to guess at the meaning of words by context are some of the skills addressed to improve reading ability.

Idioms

The course is designed to increase English fluency through the mastery of idioms.

Pre-Graduate Academic Skills – Non-Credit Course Descriptions

Pre-Graduate Communication Skills

This course is designed to prepare the international pregraduate student to give oral presentations and communicate within groups in a graduate school class at an American university. Students work on typical graduate projects and use their new skills to organize, research, and deliver academic presentations. Assistance will also be given in developing fluency and accuracy (both grammatical and phonological) in English. Feedback and error correction will be provided by the instructor and classmates.

American Business Culture

This course will help you understand American business culture and give you a framework for analyzing aspects of that culture. As a result, you will be able to navigate the American business environment, MBA programs, and be better prepared to succeed in your business careers.

Case Studies Approach

Cases or descriptions of real situations in which problems and issues must be resolved are used to practice language, communication, and critical thinking skills. Working together with classmates, you will analyze case situations, identify problems and issues, and propose solutions.

Academic Skills for Graduate Students

This is a skill-oriented program of study designed to support the international graduate student for the demands of graduate-level course work in an American university. The course will cover an extensive range of academic skills: listening to lectures, note-taking strategies, annotating a text, paraphrasing and summarizing a text, test-taking strategies, improving control of grammar and sentence structure, writing for academic purposes, and developing proficiency in oral communication.

Communication Skills for Graduate Students

This course is designed to support the international graduate student in improving their phonological and grammatical accuracy in spoken English. Fluency, accuracy and error correction will be emphasized. Students will also learn the oral communication skills they need to communicate effectively and confidently in the classroom and in other places on campus.

Lubin School of Business:

  • English language Score – minimum score: TOEFL®: 80 iBT, IELTS: 6.5, or Pearson PTE 54
  • Grade Point Average (GPA): 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale
  • GMAT 510 or GRE 1000 (combined score)
  • 2 Recommendations
  • Personal Statement

  • Official college or university transcript (s) from all institutions attended

Dyson College of Arts and Sciences:

  • English language Score – minimum score: TOEFL®: 65 iBT, IELTS: 6.0*, or Pearson PTE 45

Global Pathways at Pace University offers Graduate students the flexibility to study on a 1 term, or 2 term, or 3 term Pathways program depending upon the student’s level of English:

Lubin entry requirements:

  • 1 Term Pathway entry requirement TOEFL® 90-99 / IELTS 7.0 (no bands below 7.0) / Pearson PTE 62-67
  • 2 Term Pathway entry requirement TOEFL® 85-89 / IELTS 6.5 (no bands below 6.5) / Pearson PTE 58-61
  • 3 Term Pathway entry requirement TOEFL® 80-84 / IELTS 6.5 (no bands below 6.0) / Pearson PTE 54-57

Dyson* and Seidenberg entry requirements:

  • 1 Term Pathway entry requirement TOEFL® 79-87 / IELTS 6.5 (no bands below 6.5) / Pearson PTE 53-59
  • 2 Term Pathway entry requirement TOEFL® 72-78 / IELTS 6.0 (no bands below 6.0) / Pearson PTE 49-52

PROGRESSION Requirements to Master’s Degree Program at Pace University:

Achieve the minimum required GPA and pass the PACE University English Completion Exam or equivalent to continue with the degree to which you were admitted.

  • Minimum Pathways GPA 3.0 in Credit Courses
  • Passing grade in English (ESL) and non-credit courses
  • Pace English Completion Exam for Dyson and Seidenberg programs are on an equivalent scale to TOEFL® 88 / IELTS 6.5 / Pearson PTE 60
  • Pace English Completion Exam for Lubin programs are on an equivalent scale to TOEFL® 100 / IELTS 7.5 / Pearson PTE 68
